Youth unemployment and poverty are among the most serious problems facing the country and the irony is that, together with this unemployment, we are facing a growing shortage of appropriate skills.

This information pack lists different companies and entities that offer bursaries for studying at a South African university. At the time of print some of these bursaries may not be available. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they follow up on the application period and process of any bursary scheme.

JumpStart Handbook is the innovative career guide and life skills annual targeted at Grade 9 to Grade 12 learners in schools countrywide. As a response to South Africa’s urgent need for a learners' supportive aid, JumpStart aims to educate, empower and uplift the school-leaver and the teacher/guidance counsellor, by disseminating crucial information relating to self-knowledge, study techniques, skills development, higher education, financial aid, career planning, jobseeking, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, health issues and civic awareness.

The guide, Career Planning and Development: A Guide for Young People, is part of the Umsobomvu Youth Fund: Youth Information Kit publications. This series was developed to provide information to young people on career development, employment, entrepreneurship, citizenship, and health and wellbeing.
